We're Hiring!

Post Date: October 14, 2020

Sweet Alchemy Cafe is looking for one new part-time staff member, primarily staffing the front-of-house and doing dishes. This position would be 3-4 shifts per week (8am-4/4:30pm), including one weekend day.

We seek someone who is conscientious, has a solid work ethic, and enjoys working on a tight-knit, goofy team. Previous barista experience is great, but we’re willing to train the right person. We prefer to hire someone who plans on staying longer-term (at least through the winter).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Making espresso drinks and smoothies

  • Putting pastry orders neatly together in bags/boxes

  • Compiling entire orders (from FOH and meals from kitchen), putting on the pick-up shelves in a timely manner, and updating the point-of-sale system as orders are completed

  • Answering the phone - answering customer questions with patience, kindness, and clarity and occasionally taking phone orders.

  • Doing dishes (We all help with dishes but the FOH person usually has the most time to help. Depending on the day, a chunk of the shift may be entirely dishes.)

  • Cleaning and restocking the FOH throughout the day and at the end of the day.

  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours (standard 15 minute lunch break + bathroom breaks of course allowed)

  • Must be able to lift and carry 30+ pounds

  • Attentiveness to personal hygiene

Compensation is $12/hr starting wage (plus tips). We increase pay aligning with how long you’ve worked with us, responsibility you’ve taken on, and your effort to help our team be the best we can be. Benefits include a shift meal, coffee/tea as needed, an employee discount, and a fun and caring workplace culture.

Sweet Alchemy welcomes candidates of all identities and backgrounds. If the above job description sounds like your jam, and if you share our values and our enthusiasm for plant-based and allergy-friendly food made with joy and care, we’re interested in talking with you :)
